What is Awana?
Awana offers a fun, proven approach for early evangelism and discipleship. Scripture-based programs and exciting games attract families, promote Bible literacy, and help kids develop lifelong faith in Christ. Your child will be given a handbook that will challenge them, each week, to study Scripture, memorize bible verses, and even tell others about Christ. By completing their handbooks and memorizing various bible verses, they will receive different awards that they can attach to their Awana vests. For more information, please visit www.awana.org
When will Awana take place?
Awana will take place at FBCC, every Wednesday from 6:15 – 7:45 p.m. Our youth group will also have their program during this time, so if you have a youth and a child, it will allow both of them to come and have a program to participate in.
What will Awana Look Like at FBCC?
Awana divides its program into different age groups, each with its own name. Cubbies will be 3’s – 5’s, Sparks will be k-2nd grade, and T&T will be 3rd – 5th grade. This allows kids to be in groups of their own age and participate in bible studies that are taught in a way that each group can understand.
Each group will have a game time, where they get to play age appropriate games that allow them to get to know each other and use some of their enormous amounts of energy.
Each group will have a large group time, where they will be taught a bible study in a way they can relate to and understand. This will allow everyone coming to the Awana the chance to hear the gospel each Sunday.
Lastly, each group will have a handbook time. This is an opportunity for each child to work on their handbook with the help of our volunteers. They will also have the opportunity to tell the volunteers their memory verses and show them the parts of their handbook that they have completed in order to earn their various awards.
What Will Awana Cost?
The awards, handbooks, and everything we will do while at the church will be free. However, kids have the opportunity to wear a vest and attach all of their awards to that vest. The cost of that vest will be $10.00.
What is expected of you as the parents?
You as the parents play the most important role in Awana. Your goal is to help your child complete their handbook, study the bible, and memorize the different passages. There may be activities that your child will require help from you, or they may simply need help understanding a passage or scripture, or simply encounter a word they haven’t yet heard.
